This channel is directed to non-technical people (like myself) who are interested in learning more about Ham Radio. I cover a step by step process of learning the basics of Ham Radio. I have purposely kept it simple with tons of graphics and videos for a faster learning curve. This is NOT teaching you what you need to pass the test BUT rather how Ham Radio works and operates. This is the stuff you need to know in order to USE Ham Radio and understand the basics to get up and running.
I am taking what I have recently gone through and making sure others don't have to walk on the path I did. If I only had this when I started my journey, it would have been much easier to learn and understand. I hope this helps you get up and running much faster and less confusing IF you get the big picture first and know the terminology, workflow and how Ham Radio operates in the real world today.

I have an old kenwood ts140s and have been able to receive on fldigi and winlink telnet, but I cannot figure out if it’s my old setup with a signalink is not working together or what but super frustrating, been with races and would like to participate in winlink exercises but can’t find any local help . Well, part way back. I had another setback with 3 heart stents recently put in. Now trying to recover from this too. Thanks for your prayers.
Got myself a cheap chinese SW sdr radio w/ssb and a Tecsun powered indoor loop antenna...they both work great.
Let me know what you think of the indoor loop antenna. I am curious to hear your results!!

For the new people interested in Ham. Dont be discouraged by the toxic snobs that believes they're smarter and above everyone else. You will run into this too much while researching your new hobby. They cringe at the the term SHTF and the brand Baofeng. 😂

Excellent info - one problem with my set up using KW TS 590SG. CAT not controlling selected freq, CAT does control freq when using Ion2G with same settings. could the problem be related to MODE selected, USB vs USB Data? Thanks
I am pretty sure both need to be USB Data. Make sure to check Vara HF rig settings (the window with the speed like odometers). Common failure point.

Absolutely. UHF/VHF on Analog allows for fading / tunning. Digital, on the other hand, is either working or not working. No tuning.
Thanks for the great video! A minor correction/suggestion: On your frequency limits slide around 4:36, for 60 meter, it should be 5330.500(etc for the 5 channels) KILOhertz, not MHz, or convert to 5.3305 if you want to keep it MHz for consistency's sake.

You may want to know the inverter load you showed most can run off of 12v. Depending your setup you can save the large loss of the inverter. I suggest taking a look. Thank you for your video.

Thanks MJ for your excellent tutorials. I'm starting to make VarAC contacts with my attic magloop on 20m. I had a power outage take out my monitor. The new portable USB one I bought was having RFI problems until I fixed the open ground and ground loop problem from my power supply to the rig. 73

Hi MJ, lm going with carbon lead acid batts, perform like lithium but you dont need the fire engine parked next to your radio gear if you have lithium Hope you get well soon. The Supreme Commander of the universe (the Lord) has always kept my dad alive desipte asbestos and a near death experiance with the covid clowns at the hospital pushing there poison and covid protocols. I am so proud of you for overcoming your challenges. I commend you and know that all things are possible through Christ Jesus our Lord. I have now found out I have a serious heart issue and waiting to talk to the Cardiologist who did my stress test yesterday. What ever the outcome, Jesus is still good and His mercy endures forever. I do not fear death but run to it. It is not punishment but my reward. I have fought the good fight of faith and look forward to entering into the fulness of His presence. May the Lord grant you His peace and rest as you continue to be an "overcomer in this world".

A good idea! Those running QRP might check inexpensive and lightweight TV coax switches. For low power they should work and they'd allow you to select different coax-fed antennas.

Go for it! Not that hard but remember to tune the rig first, ALWAYS turn on the rig before opening the app and check your audio settings in Vara HF. ALC should just be at the zero line or one tick above.
